The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, admitted to existing divisions within La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and called for keeping disagreements "in the locker room," alluding to the public criticism that emerged from sectors close to presidential advisor Santiago Caputo.
Internal Disagreements and Self-Criticism in the Ruling Party Menem acknowledged that within the libertarian space there are "different points of view on the same reality," although he dismissed that it is a crisis. "We don't all think the same about how to approach politics," he stated in radio statements. The leader asked to "avoid making discrepancies public" and pointed out that "self-criticism must be done behind closed doors," in a clear reference to the publications on social media by "Fuerzas del Cielo" —the youth group led by Caputo— which questioned several libertarian leaders.
"We're not going to know what to do with so many deputies, we come from a scarcity," he commented with humor.
Labor Reform and Single Ballot The head of the Lower House backed the labor reform promoted by President Javier Milei, which seeks "greater flexibility" and an increase in registered employment. He also highlighted the work of his cousin, Eduardo "Lule" Menem, whom he defined as "the executive arm" of the party's territorial work. At the same time, the deputy emphasized that after the electoral victory, the libertarian movement must act "with humility and self-criticism." "Perhaps the mistake was to expose those differences in the open," he admitted.
Recognitions and Political Strategy During the interview, Menem highlighted the role of Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency and president of LLA, whom he praised for her "order and leadership in the national assembly of the space."
"She went through an election, it was successful, but we have to rethink decisions with the same humility."
Legislative Agenda and Institutional Stance On the parliamentary front, Martín Menem reaffirmed that the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies "must remain in the hands of the ruling party" and expressed optimism about the new legislative composition, which will add between 86 and 87 libertarian and allied deputies.
"On December 10th we start carving again: we will see how the committees are assigned. Life works differently: there is mobility, risk, and growth." He also celebrated the implementation of the Single Paper Ballot (BUP) in the legislative elections on Sunday, considering it "a step towards transparency and efficiency in the electoral system."
Regarding the cultural changes implied by the labor reform, Menem remarked: "There is a culture of thinking that one goes to a job to stay there for a lifetime."
"That more capitalist mentality will bring prosperity for everyone." "Pure billiards," he said with irony.
